St Georges Day Celebrations 2005

All in the Spirit of St George’s Day in Abbotts Ann

KONICA MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERA The Abbotts Ann War Memorial Hall was decked with flags, shields and all things medieval as the Committee celebrated St George’s Day with a fundraising Medieval Banquet and the Canberra Tales.
The spirit of the evening was captured by surfs, peasants, Lords, Ladies, serving wenches and the King and Queen all indulging in a three course banquet which included Alounder of Mutton, Hennys in Bruet and Wardonys in Syryp with Wynes, Ales and Spiced English Mead. There was musical entertainment, humorous verse and a witty modern day version of The Canterbury Tales, The Canberra Tales, by Vera Hughes and David Weller from Chester House Productions.
The evening was thoroughly enjoyed by all. We would like to thank all those who support our fundraising events and a special thank you to Rosemary and Per and past Committee members for all their hard work in making the St George’s Day celebrations such a success and helping to raise funds for the maintenance and upkeep of the War Memorial Hall.

Other fundraising events at Abbotts Ann War Memorial Hall this year include the Annual Hog Roast on Saturday 25th June with live jazz from Acoustic Jass, the Skittles Match on Saturday 15th October and the Family Fun Evening & Fish & Chip Supper on Saturday 19th October.
