WI Newsletter – April 2008

Their April meeting proved once again that many members of this Institute are very talented when three of them, Judy Clarke, Sue Farr & Jan Munnion were prepared to stand up and talk about their artistic skills.

For Sue it has been a hobby, preferring to work in watercolour, she has attempted many different subjects, including portraits of her own sons when they were at school. Jan revealed that she gets her inspiration from images in magazines, friends’ gardens and when on holiday, and likes to work in watercolour and ink.

However, Judy has been able to develop a hobby into a business and now draws pet portraits in pastels, mainly on commission.

All three brought along samples of their work which were much admired by their fellow members.

Earlier in the evening, it was announced there is to be another guided walk around Winchester and an Indian Cookery evening, both to take place in the first week of July. This is in addition to the visit to Blenheim Palace on 06 August.

The walking group continued along the Clarendon Way this month, walking from Pitton to Broughton, which proved a little longer than some had anticipated and it was a close shave to make it to the pub in time for lunch!
