WI Newsletter – August 2008

Whilst August was officially a quiet month in that there was no monthly meeting, behind the scenes, as always, plans are being made for future events including a Craft Day on the 04 October and the walking group carried on along the Clarendon Way, this time finishing on the outskirts of Winchester.

There were some concerns that it might be too hot to walk in August – as you can have guessed this year that wasn’t a problem. In fact, our members walked in the rain for the first time – having started walking in April 2005. Just to clarify, no we haven’t been walking continuously since then!

A successful visit to Blenheim Palace was the other event on our calendar this month – there is so much to see and do there and thanks to Gill Page & Julia Jenkins who between them organised a very enjoyable day for everyone. The coach was almost full thanks to friends and family who joined us on this jaunt, including Muriel Spanholtz, who you may remember returned to her native USA last year, but was on a return visit to Abbotts Ann this summer.

Diary Dates:

6th September – Village Fete

25th September – Meeting – 7.30 p.m. Village Hall

The next meeting on 25 September is an amendment to the published programme and will be aerial photography courtesy of Heather Hook – and just to prove that our members do like to spice things up a little, the competition is “A Saucy Postcard”.
