WI Newsletter – December 2006

Once we have recovered from our Annual Meeting in November and enjoyed our Christmas Celebrations in December we take a well-deserved break, ready to come back fully refreshed in the New Year.

Once again our December meeting took the form of a Dinner in the Village Hall, where all our members had to do was sit back and enjoy good food and wine whilst the caterers did all the hard work. There was a lighthearted end to the evening, when several of our members read out some seasonal and amusing poems and stories.

This doesn’t mean we are idle, preparations are in hand for a busy 2007 and our Committee, which has four new faces, will be meeting in January to get to grips with everything.

In the meantime here is a taster of what is to come in 2007:

25 January – American Indians of the Plains – 7.30 p.m. in the Village Hall

20 February – Pancake Morning 10.30 a.m. Village Hall : Entry £2.50 to include refreshments (pancake & coffee)

22 February – Have Gavel Will Travel – Derek Drew (Toastmaster) – 7.30 p.m. in the Village Hall

29 March – Chocolate with Barbara Parker – 7.30 p.m. in the Village Hall

Our January speaker comes highly recommended – Susan Dewey will be sharing with us her knowledge of American Indians of the Plains. Although our meetings start at 7.30 p.m., it is prudent to arrive a little earlier.
