Christingle is a celebration that takes place in thousands of churches and schools across the country to raise funds for The Children’s Society.

St Mary’s Fun Club is an after-school club at Abbotts Ann School which is raising funds for the Children’s Society by asking children to put any spare change into a collection candle.  At the Christingle service children will exchange these for a Christingle.

Christingles are made from an orange decorated with red tape, sweets and a candle.  The orange represents the world, the ribbon is the love and blood of Christ.  The sweets are for the whole of God’s creation whilst the candle symbolises Jesus’ light to the world, bringing hope to people in darkness.
