Apple Day was a huge success with lots of apples and lots of helpers, some young and some slightly older!
Our thanks to the following people –
- Kate Bennett for her wonderful poster advertising the event.
- Keith Saunders for managing entry to the Hall, finding extension leads, lifting tables, etc.
- Adam Rose for being an all round superstar setting up and operating the wonderful apple press.
- Assistant apple washers, scratters and pressers Adrian Cole and Paula Grant.
- (Paula’s work is not yet done as she now has the remaining apple juice to pasteurise for sale in the village shop in due course. Paula also spent much of the week collecting and picking apples!)
- Our tea table organiser, Helen Clark, assisted by Lisa Hillier.
- Head judge Polly Whyte, winner in 2024, for judging the best apple cake competition (amongst stiff competition, the winning entry was made by Lisa Hillier, who is now the owner of the much coveted wooden apple trophy until 2026).
- Children’s games organisers Anne and Paul Cunningham.
- A real team effort, thank you everyone who helped, provided apples, lent equipment, or just came to sample the juice and help make Apple Day 2025 a very happy time.
In future Apple Day will be on the last Saturday in September. Therefore Apple Day 2026 will be on Saturday 26th September 2026.
