King Charles III’s First 5p Coins Enter Circulation
First 5p coins featuring His Majesty King Charles III effigy available across the UK. Release follows demand for 5p coins, marking the first time this denomination bearing King Charles III’s portrait enters circulation. This is the first design change for the 5p in circulation in 17 years. The new 5p coins feature the oak tree leaf design on the reverse (tails), signifying its role as a rich habitat for biodiversity in British woodland areas.

Valentine’s Day – Cards, stamps, chocolates and potted plants available at our shop and post office – The tradition of giving cards to loved ones on Valentine’s Day in Britain was already established in the 1700s. Handmade billet doux were sent anonymously or hinting at the identity of the lover. By the 1820s, 200,000 valentines were given yearly in London. That number exploded when reforms to the Royal Mail ushered in a uniform rate of one penny to send letters of less than half an ounce from and to any post office in the British Isles.

Our Post Office and Shop are at the heart of the village: a place to buy groceries, local produce, a coffee shop and use Post Office services, but also an important meeting point for village life. Use it or lose it.
