Our fantastic start to the year continued, with another two new members joining this month.
On the first Saturday of the month, 30 of us gathered in the Village Hall for a Pamper Day. We were encouraged by colour specialist Alison Wray to wear the colours that flattered us most and not just to hide behind the ubiquitous black. Meanwhile Corry, a beauty therapist, was on hand to persuade us to experiment a little more with our make-up and try some new combinations. Several members were lucky to benefit from the experience of a full facial and makeover.
To complete the day we all enjoyed a delicious lunch of homemade soup and carrot cake.
Plans for our tabletop sale are progressing – more information to follow, but please put Saturday 13 May in your diary and come along to the Village Hall at 10.30 a.m. Refreshments will be available.
Another innovation for this year is the newly formed Reading Group, organised by Rachael Carter, which had its first meeting this month.
On 18 February, five of us continued with our progress along the Test Way, this time walking from Mottisfont to Romsey – a distance of approximately five miles. The day was rather cold and overcast, but contrary to the weather forecast thankfully remained dry. However, conditions underfoot were rather muddy and there were a large number of stiles, so after all that exercise the reward was a very welcome pub lunch.
For our meeting this month we were delighted to welcome back Jill Liddell, one of our own members. Last year she had us enthralled as she revealed the secrets of the kimono, but this time she talked about Japanese Traditional Designs displaying two beautifully designed and stitched quilts, one of which she had made herself, as well as showing slides of other exquisite examples. All very much enjoyed by our members.

For our March meeting we have invited Baroness Arlington, who lives it the Village, to tell of her personal experience in the House of Lords
It is not essential to be a member of the W.I. to attend one of our meetings, visitors are always welcome, however, we do just make a small charge to cover refreshments. Please come along for a 7.30 p.m. start.
