W.I. Newsletter August 2022

Not a lot on our calendar this month as traditionally we do not have a formal meeting in August, and we had to cancel our planned visit to Tyntesfield.  The effects of the Pandemic are still being felt unfortunately and we just could not make the trip viable financially.  Very disappointing, but understandable.

The record-breaking temperatures this month also put paid to our walking group’s plans.  It was just too hot to walk safely and enjoyably.  Whoever thought we would be saying that!

Nevertheless, on a positive note our coffee morning this month was very well attended and was a welcome opportunity to come together for a chat and catch up before the heat of the day became too much to bear!  This is an ideal opportunity to meet us in an informal setting and is open to non-members.

Our members are still in touch behind the scenes and there is much planning going on to fulfil our obligations to provide W.I. Teas at the annual village fete on Saturday, 03 September.  We are happy to take donations of cakes!

There are also plans for a fund-raising event on 25 October in the form of a Halloween Coffee Morning.  It is half-term so there will be activities for children.

We will be back in the Village Hall on 29th September at 7.30 p.m.   Our speaker is Wendy Davis from Andover Trees United – this is an opportunity to hear about their work locally.
