Fete 2024 March Update

We held our first fete meeting on Wednesday 13th March and welcomed new committee members and representatives from community organisations supporting the fete.

The community organisations involved with the fete are the Church, Primary School, Handbells, Village Hall, Shop, WI, Nursery, Am Drams and the Friends of the Abbotts Ann Sports Field. This year we are delighted to have on board another community organisation, the Church Bell Ringers.

Due to our recent financial fund raising success we have applied to become a CUA (Charitable Unincorporated Association) At our meeting our new fete committee agreed to the constitution.

Having established the new fete committee we all participated in a constructive and open discussion and voted on the fete venue for 2024. A significant majority voted to keep the fete in the Village street setting although we acknowledged there is some need for improvement based on feedback received.

Plans are now underway for the first fete fund raising event, the Plant Sale on Saturday 18th May 10.30-12.30 at the Village Hall.

We have already secured plants again from Kirton Farm Nurseries near Winchester, Dobbies Garden Centre Andover and are hoping to receive more donations from other local garden centres. If you are able to bring along any plants/ seedlings from your own gardens we would be very grateful. The WI have offered to sell teas and coffees at the plant sale and the Eagle Pub will be donating again delicious bacon and rolls. We’ll also have a raffle and a bottle stall run by the school PTA. Bill Easterbrook has kindly agreed to offer gardening tips and advice which is always invaluable.

Our main fete sponsor this year is Kieron Beattie Landscaping Ltd
based in Monxton. Representatives from this company will be present at our plant sale and they look forward to engaging with our village community.

Once more we are appealing for volunteers to help with the fete on Friday pm 6th September, Saturday 7th September from 9am- 6pm and on Sunday 8th September between 10am – midday.

Although we have already secured the support of local army cadets and a Tesco community representative the more volunteers we have the better, so everyone has an opportunity to enjoy the fete as well as being a volunteer with robust rotas in place.

If you’d like to volunteer please could you contact me on mobile 07718900856 or Anne.cunningham@abbottsann.com

Thank you for your continued support
Best wishes
