WI Newsletter – February 2012

Unfortunately, the snow put paid to our walking group venturing out this month, although not deep, crisp or even there was enough for us to decide not to take the risk as we don’t bounce back-up again so easily should we slip up. Shame, but we hope to pull our boots back on next month.

There were still plenty of opportunities for our members to get together though, at the reading group, the monthly coffee morning, where this month our hostess was Jill Reynolds or the lunch club. The latter took advantage of an offer of 20% off all food (sorry it was only for the month of February!) as they returned to The George at Middle Wallop, where once again they enjoyed a varied selection from the freshly cooked menu. This has become a favourite both with the lunch club and the walking group.

Later that day six of our members ventured to Bishops Waltham where they participated in a Royal Quiz organised by the Hampshire Federation.

Our planned speaker this month succumbed at the last moment to one of the varied selection of infections that descend at this time of year and who should come to our rescue but Angela Wilbraham who has recently launched the Inspired Community Website. It was her experiences as a journalist in the financial sector that inspired her to create this website and the W.I. is delighted to participate by registering a group on the site. When asked how it affected the existing village website, Angela responded that they were two different entities and she felt there was room for both.

Next month we are looking forward to learning more about the life of Florence Nightingale as Chester Productions bring her story to life. Yes the last Thursday of the month (29th) at 7.30 p.m. in the village hall.
