W.I. Newsletter August 2020

Writing these newsletters is getting increasingly difficult as the current guidelines still prohibit any indoor meetings, so there is very little to report on.  However, we do want all our members to be aware that the Committee is still meeting regularly via Zoom and trying to be creative in how we can get together without contravening any social distancing regulations.  We have come up with a few suggestions and if they happen then future reports may be more interesting!  We can only hope.

In the meantime, the walking group did get together on an extremely hot Saturday earlier this month to stroll across Stockbridge Down.  Numbers went up and down for a variety of reasons, but on the day, there were four of us.  We had all brought our own picnics, so we then adjourned to a member’s garden to eat them, where we had the luxury of a parasol to keep us protected from the sun.  It is only when we do manage to get together, albeit in small groups, that we are reminded how important it is to see people in reality – especially for those who live alone.  Not just on a screen or talking at either end of the telephone, although these means of communication are playing a vital part in keeping our spirits up.
