W.I. Newsletter December 2021

It was so lovely to be able to gather this month for a Christmas themed party.  Given the circumstances sensible precautions were followed, but we were delighted to see a room full of women, including many new members, ready to have a great time.

We started with a Snowman Drive – a wintry seasonal adaptation of a beetle drive – and there was much rattling of dice, excited cries when a six was thrown to start and groans when this failed to materialise.  The sheets had been prepared with explicit instructions, but there was the inevitable confusion.  Much laughter followed and no one really knew which direction to travel if they were the loser or winner of their table.  Some of us moved backwards and forwards, others sailed around the room and most stayed put!  Our victor with the most points was Sue George.

As usual our “bring a plate” buffet supper was a great success.  There is never a plan, but it always works out with a balance of savoury and sweet and more than enough to go around.

A lovely festive evening.

Our next meeting will be via Zoom and we are delighted that Felicity Cloake (food writer for The Guardian) has agreed to speak to us via this means.  A link to join this meeting will be sent to members nearer the time, but please put 27th January 2020 – 7.30 p.m. start in your diary.
